3 Reasons You Should See Your Dermatologist For Your Moles

If you have one or more moles on your body, it may be a good idea to have them seen by your dermatologist. A dermatologist is very skilled when it comes to caring for your skin. Because of this, they know exactly what to do with your moles. Here are three reasons why you should see your dermatologist for your moles.

They Can Remove Your Moles

If you have any moles that are large, misshapen, or otherwise bother you, then your dermatologist can successfully remove these moles for you. They will do so by first numbing the mole itself and the skin around your moles. This is done by using a small needle with numbing solution. Once the numbing solution has sunk into the skin, the dermatologist will then use a razor blade to carefully shave off the moles. If they are extra large, then extra tools and stitches may be necessary to complete the removal. Once removed, the skin left behind will heal and the mole likely will not grow back.

They Will Run Tests On Your Mole Skin Samples

If there are any moles on your body that could potentially be cancerous, they will not only be removed by your dermatologist, but the skin of the mole will be sent off for further testing. If any of the tests come back positive for cancer, then further treatment and testing will be needed to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else in your body. This knowledge will allow you to treat the cancer in a timely manner, which could potentially save your life.

Ask Important Questions

If you have any questions in regards to your moles. your dermatologist is an excellent person to ask. You can ask them questions about what a cancerous mole may look like, what types of changes to look for in your moles, how to treat the skin left behind after a mole is removed, etc. Asking your questions and receiving answers not only gives you more peace of mind, but it also lets you know when you should come back into the dermatologist.

When you visit a dermatologist for your moles, you get the help that you need. You can have one or more of your moles removed, the skin from your moles can be tested for cancer, and you can ask your dermatologist any questions that you may have regarding your moles.
